She’s the eternal rom-com queen who’s never quite managed to lock down her happy ever after. So, watching Jennifer Aniston look happier than ever with her boyfriend, Jim Curtis, is – of course – a joy to behold for friends, family and adoring fans across the globe. But, according to sources, the actress’s recent decision to scale down her work commitments, while throwing herself fully behind Jim’s own work projects, has now got her loved ones thinking twice.

Obviously, there’s nothing wrong with the 57-year-old rallying around her partner – especially since she believes so strongly in the work Jim, 50, does as a spiritual coach and hypnotherapist. The concern is that Jen is running the risk of sacrificing her own career in the process, diminishing her successes and making herself smaller to give Jim centre stage. She might not crave the limelight so strongly anymore – but, as far as her inner circle is concerned, she still deserves top billing.

‘Jen’s priorities have clearly shifted,’ says an insider close to the superstar, who’s worked hard over the past three decades to keep her place on top of the Hollywood pyramid. ‘She’s turning down work and spending virtually all her time focused on Jim and his career. It goes beyond being a supportive girlfriend. There’s even talk that she’d like to become actively involved in the business to the point that she’s interested in training as a hypnotherapist herself. That’s all well and good, but people around her can’t help noticing it’s coming at the expense of her own career, and they worry she’s making a mistake.’

Last week, eyebrows were raised after it was announced that Jen would be making a live appearance alongside Jim in New York in early September to promote his new book, ‘The Book of Possibility: Release, Align, Become’. Taking to the stage together for the first time ever, the couple will sit down for a live Q+A – which will see Jen interview Jim all about his ‘transformational work, the origins of his book in his workshops and coaching, and the role of the mind in healing’. Jim will then treat audience members to a ‘guided visualisation’ accompanied by live music.

By all accounts, it promises to be a special night for the pair – especially since Jen has previously voiced her admiration for Jim’s work, telling Elle magazine in an interview last year, ‘He’s quite extraordinary, and helps many, many people.’ But – with live audience members being charged $95 for a ticket, and at-home viewers paying $55 to watch the event online – questions are being raised over Jim’s decision to use his very famous girlfriend as something of a promotional tool. Granted, he might be well respected in his industry, but Jen is a household name with a global fanbase and 44.7m Instagram followers who hang onto her every word. So, it’s hard to deny that Jim has a whole lot to gain from having her throw her weight behind his work.

At the same time, it hasn’t escaped anyone’s attention that Jen’s been quietly retreating from a few of her own work commitments. Last week, it was revealed that she’s pulled out of the upcoming TV adaptation of actress Jennette McCurdy’s hit memoir, ‘I’m Glad My Mom Died’. Jen had been attached to the project for a while, and was due to executive produce the series, as well as star as Jennette’s controversial mother, but news that she’s pulled out – apparently due to scheduling issues – has left people wondering if she’s hitting the brakes on her own career. And the whispers have only gotten louder, as it has since been announced that Jen’s hit series The Morning Show will end after its upcoming fifth season.

As the news was released, Jen took to Instagram to share snapshots of the upcoming finale season, telling fans she was “laughing and crying” at the same time alongside pictures of herself with cast members Reese Witherspoon and Mark Duplass. As our source explains, seeing Jen wave goodbye to two projects in a short amount of time has only raised concern further. Needless to say, with a reported net worth of $320m, she could very happily retire at any time she wishes. But having long loved the work she does – and the people she does it with – it does seem odd that she’d now be turning her back on her lifelong vocation and enmeshing herself so insistently in Jim’s world.

‘The fact that the next season of The Morning Show will now be its last has only added to everyone’s worrying because, not too long ago, the talk was that she would keep that going for many years to come,’ we’re told. ‘This does feel like a very sudden turnaround – especially as it’s come hot on the heels of her dropping out of the Jennette McCurdy project. But Jen seems to be content with both decisions because it will mean she has a lot more free time, which she says she’s been craving.

Still, it’s a little bewildering that instead of getting paid millions to do what she does best, she’s going to be on the road with Jim to promote his new book. It’s hard for people not to wonder if she’s dimming her own light to help him shine.’

Unsurprisingly, there’s now an effort inside Jen’s inner circle to remind her that – although things are going well so far – it’s still early days for her and Jim. They just celebrated their one-year anniversary after first being pictured together in July 2025. Nevertheless, there’s no denying that the actress seems more loved up and more content than she has in years. Crucially, it’s important to remember that, having been married twice to actors, Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux respectively, and having also dated her fair share of entertainers in the past, this is her first public relationship with someone who, though successful, dominates a completely different market. For that reason, she doesn’t have to worry about competing in the same arena.

And – though it is very possible that she’s purposefully taking a backseat to make sure her fame and fortune doesn’t eclipse his – it’s also just as fair to assume that, after all these years, she’s simply happy to shine the spotlight somewhere else for a minute.

Ultimately, we’re told, Jen’s managing to allay her friends’ concerns – for now, at least. ‘She insists she knows exactly what she’s doing, and says it’s completely worth it because she already has more than enough money and fame for 10 lifetimes,’ our insider explains. ‘What she values most now is love and the life she’s building with Jim. Everyone is just holding their breath and praying that she’s finally found a man worthy of all the incredible things she offers because, when she’s in love, she does not hold back.’
